On 7 November 2026, the 7th Trail du Lac de Villerest starts from the lake beach as the afternoon fades and runs on into the night beside the Gorges de la Loire. The 42 km Tour du Lac sets off at 15:00 and the 30 km Grand Duc at 16:30, with shorter night races, hikes and children's runs in the same race village.
The Trail du Lac de Villerest plays with the light: runners leave the lake beach in daylight and finish by the glow of their headlamps under the stars. Set beside the Gorges de la Loire, near Roanne, this night trail makes the headlamp compulsory for everyone, whatever the distance.
The Tour du Lac, 42 km with more than 1,100 m of climbing, is the event's most demanding course; it starts at 15:00 and carries a UTMB Index 50K category. Le Grand Duc, 30 km, sets off at 16:30 in the 20K category. The 15 km Échappée Nocturne, also open to duos, and the 9 km Run Night complete the programme, along with two hikes on the race routes and children's runs.
The race village opens at 13:00 at the salle La Papeterie, and the evening ends with podiums at 20:30, a DJ and a musical dinner; a Pasta Box is included for Tour du Lac runners. Organised by Week&sport with US Villerest and the town, the event also holds a solidarity clothing collection for a local association.
