A UTMB World Series event set in the heart of Tuscany's Chianti Classico country, with five races from 10 to 120 kilometers starting and finishing in the medieval village of Radda in Chianti. Courses wind through rolling vineyards and olive groves, past the ancient castles of the League of Chianti, and over the forested heights of Monte San Michele.

Set in the heart of Tuscany's most celebrated wine region, the Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB offers five races ranging from the festive 10 km Chianti Wine Run to the grueling 120 km Ultra Trail Chianti Castles, with 5,200 meters of elevation gain. Every course starts and finishes in Radda in Chianti, a medieval hilltop village perched between Florence and Siena that has served as the seat of the historic League of Chianti since 1250.

The trails traverse two distinct landscapes. The first half rolls through the sunlit hills of Chianti Senese, where runners follow ancient paths lined with vineyards, olive groves, and cypress trees, passing the stone walls of castles that once guarded the border between Florence and Siena. The second half turns wild as the route climbs toward Monte Luco and Monte San Michele, the region's highest peak at 900 meters, with rugged forest trails replacing the gentle vineyard paths below.

Held each March when the Tuscan countryside awakens in early spring, the event blends athletic challenge with deep cultural immersion. Runners pass through quiet hamlets like Volpaia, cross ancient estates, and experience a landscape that inspired Renaissance masters. Whether tackling the full 120 km castle tour or savoring the Wine Run through the vines, every finisher carries home a piece of Chianti.
