The HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is the UTMB World Series Major for the Americas, set at 7,000 feet in California's San Bernardino Mountains. Runners circumnavigate Big Bear Lake across three distinct climates, summit Sugarloaf Mountain at nearly 10,000 feet, cross sections of the Pacific Crest Trail, and descend through the remote Siberia Canyon.

The HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is the UTMB World Series Major for the Americas, set in the alpine village of Big Bear Lake in California's San Bernardino Mountains. Starting and finishing in the heart of downtown Big Bear, the courses circumnavigate the valley at a sustained elevation above 7,000 feet, with the 100 mile race climbing nearly 17,000 feet of vertical gain to reach the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain at 9,995 feet. From the 10K to the full 100 miler, each distance offers a true mountain trail experience just a couple of hours from Los Angeles.

What makes this race exceptional is the dramatic variety of landscapes packed into a single loop. Runners traverse three distinct climates along the way: subalpine forests of towering pines, windswept ridgelines above the treeline, and high desert terrain dotted with Joshua trees. The 100 mile course follows over 20 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, crosses the remote Siberia Canyon, cruises along the north shore of Big Bear Lake, and ascends Deadman's Ridge. The trails are technical and demanding, with flowing singletrack and epic canyon passages that reward every climb with sweeping mountain vistas.

As one of only four UTMB World Series Majors worldwide, the Kodiak Ultra Marathons offers double Running Stones to every finisher and direct qualification opportunities for both the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. Three days of racing, a passionate mountain community, and the golden light of a California October make Big Bear Lake one of the most compelling destinations on the global trail running calendar.
