Crossing the Island of Santa Catarina from end to end, between Atlantic forest, rocky headlands and wild beaches
The Floripa Ultra Trail Run runs the length of the Ilha de Santa Catarina, from the lighthouse trails of Naufragados in the far south to the sand of Praia da Lagoinha in the north. Five distances, from 8K to a brand new 100K, share the same promise: the island from end to end, with the ocean always in sight.
Held every September in Florianópolis, the Floripa Ultra Trail Run is the race that runs the Ilha de Santa Catarina from end to end. The course links the wild south of the island to the beaches of the north, stringing together singletrack, forest paths, rocky headlands, dunes and long stretches of sand. Runners start in the dark from the Naufragados trailhead and finish on the sand of Praia da Lagoinha, the island revealing itself kilometre after kilometre.
The 2026 edition adds a 100K, the longest distance in the history of the race, crossing almost every hill on the eastern side of the island and passing landmarks such as Morro da Coroa and the Dome da Oração for close to 3,000 metres of climbing. The 75K remains the original event, the one that created the challenge of the island from end to end, and rewards a 3:30 start with sunrise over the wild bay of Lagoinha do Leste. The 46K sets off from Praia do Campeche facing its famous island, the 24K from Praia do Moçambique, and the 8K from Praia dos Ingleses by way of the Trilha das Feiticeiras and Praia Brava.
What makes the race is the mix: technical trail in the Atlantic forest, granite slabs above the surf, soft sand that empties the legs, and a subtropical humidity that turns modest elevation into a real test. The Ilha da Magia is one of the most beautiful settings in Brazil for a trail race, and few courses show as much of an island in a single day.
